Google released maps for Switzerland
There is a "new" competitor in the Switzerland online-map-business. Google has released detailed satelite-maps for Switzerland today (only zurich with the highest resolution). Google has no Traffic maps online now, but very high-resolution images of zurich.
Comparison Zurich Main Station:
Google, map.search.ch
Here on swissightseeing.twoday.net i will decide in each case wich pictures i take. At the moment i prefer the images of google (if available), because they provide picture-only maps.Search.ch has no option to remove the road-layer. It has an option to remove the street names, thanks to davidrei...

Get rid of street names in map.search images
You actually can get rid of street names and POI information on map.search.ch images. Do this
1. Choose the location in map.search.ch
2. Change to the static view
3. Right click the image and get the properties
4. Remove the poi= argument from the URL
5. change the layer argument from 'bg,fg,copy' to 'bg,copy'
This results in the URL http://mapdata.maple.search.ch/chmap.jpg?layer=bg,copy&zd=0.5&x=25332&y=-69956&q=&merge=1&w=560&h=420&base= for the image of Museum Rietberg.

thanks for the hint, but there is still a semitransparent layer over the streets, isn't it?

yes, there is. And that one you can't get rid of - or at least I didn't figure out how.
